Other Funding Resources
Veteran's Administration

The VA will provide most types of equipment that we offer.  In order to know if you qualify, you
should contact your local VA hospital's prosthetics department.  The VA has guidelines as to
what enables you to qualify for what equipment and the prosthetics representatives should be
able to assist you.

For more information, here is the prosthetics division website:
http://www.prosthetics.va.gov
Of special interest is the "Automobile Equipment" link on the left sidebar.

Vehicle allowance:
Some Veteran's benefits lie outside of the scope of your local prosthetics office.  For instance,
if you are in need of a lowered floor minivan (or a full size van) you may be eligible for a vehicle
allowance. This is separate and apart from the conversion equipment that prosthetics may
cover.  This is a one time special benefit of $11,000.  You can contact your regional office, or
call us for more info.  Once approved, the money is held until the regional office receives a bill
of sale from us showing that you have purchased and paid for the vehicle, save $11,000.  They
will then write a check directly to us for the remaining $11,000 of your invoice. Below are some
links with more information on this benefit:

Here is a
4502 form, required by the VA regional office (in Huntington, if you are a WV resident)
for the
once lifetime vehicle allowance.  And here is the 10-1394 form that you may additionally
need to fill out for the conversion/adaptations on our vans.

HISA grant:

The HISA grant will pay for many home modifications, including ramps (which we can build, but
depending on the ramp and your eligible benefit, may not be fully covered by the HISA funds)
and doorway/bathroom modifications (which we do not do).  You can find more info on the
HISA
GRANT HERE

Disabilityinfo.gov - as the name implies, this is a site with information on all available
government programs and laws pertaining to individuals with disabilities

VGM's DC Link - not a funding source, but a site that will keep you up to date with all legislative
action and proposals that may affect your ability to get funding in the future.  Check often and
call your legislators before they cut you off!
National Disability Organizations
These may not be funding sources directly, but contacting the group that pertains to your disability may help in
finding a funding source for you.
